HAGERSTOWN: John R. Grimes, 88, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at The Springs of Richmond.
He was born in Phoenix, AZ on April 2, 1928 to Robert B. and Mildred (Spence) Grimes. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Lincoln High School and Indiana University. He was employed as an Indiana State Parole Officer.
John loved music (especially jazz), nature study, bird watching and collecting vintage bicycles.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Asche) Grimes; two sons, John S. Grimes (Amy) and Michael A. Grimes (Chel); two grandsons, Adam and Noah Grimes; a brother, Dan S. Grimes (Sue); three nephews and two nieces.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family with burial in West Lawn Cemetery. Culberson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hagerstown Library or the donor’s favorite charity.
