Josephine McConnell, age 87, of Greenfield, Indiana, died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 9, 1935, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Willard and Gladys Womack Hall. Josephine was a devoted mother who raised six beautiful girls while working as a waitress. After her girls were grown, she went back to school and became a CNA and worked at McSherr, Inc. Josephine enjoyed reading, rag picking, scratch-off lottery tickets, a shot of Jim Beam, watching murder shows, and wearing comfy clothes. She was a strong woman of faith.
Survivors include her daughters Cheryl McConnell of Richmond, Lisa McConnell (Joe Springer) of New Paris, Ohio, Vanessa McConnell of Richmond, Karen McConnell (Rebecca Sidwell) of Greenfield, Margaret McConnell of Richmond, and Wanda Davis of Cambridge City, Indiana; grandchildren, Aaron McConnell, Sarah Miller, Corey McConnell, Bryce Davis, Faye Springer, Megan Bryant, Olivia Davis, Joey Springer, and Dane Via; great-grandchildren, Matthew Frost, Brody McConnell, Casey Clemens, and Irelynn Liput; siblings, Mary Katherine Franzen, Sue Carol Ramsey, Brenda Gaia, Patty Carson, and Glenn Hall; special niece, Valerie Cauley; nieces, Vicki Melton, Amy Martin, and Beverly Bates; nephew, Paul Cauley; great nieces and nephews, John Taylor (Kaitlyn) Martin, Valerie (Chris) Bensing, Brittany Jacobs, Chloe Melton, Brandi Bates, Robert Bates, and several great-great-nieces and nephews; and good friends Tari Murray and Cathy Herzog.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Margaret Hall, Wanda (Billy) Deaton, and Phillip Hall; niece, Carol Thompson; and great-nephew, Brandt Melton.
Visitation for Josephine McConnell will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022, and 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Earlham Cemetery.
