CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Joyce E. Henwood, age 86, of Centerville, Indiana, died Monday, November 18, 2019, at Reid Health.

Born August 31, 1933, in Brownsville, Indiana, to William “Fritz” and Agnes Knipp Hofmann, Joyce was a life-long resident of Wayne County.

She was a 1951 graduate of Connersville High School. Joyce worked with the Centerville-Abington Community Schools as a teacher’s aide. She was a member of the WOTM Chapter 534, where she was the former Sr. Regent of Indiana, and a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Abington Volunteer Fire Department. Joyce loved to paint, read, and play cards.

Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl (Steven) Rodenberg of Akron, Indiana, Sonja (Wayne) Lunsford and Iris (Jeffrey) Windle, both of Centerville; son, Dale (Collean) Henwood of Centerville; grandchildren, Amy (Kory) Shafer, Eric (Jenny) Rodenberg, Marcus (Erin) Lunsford, Melissa (Charles) Stephen, Ben Marcum, LaCole (Marcus) Fleagle, and Cody Henwood; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alan Henwood, who died December 10, 1997; grandson, Michael Lunsford; great-grandson, Jakoby Fleagle; parents; sister, Wilma McIntosh; and two brothers, Jack and Donald Hofmann.

Visitation for Joyce E. Henwood will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019, at Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Doddridge Chapel Cemetery.
