Joyce Elaine Harter, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, March 5, 2018, at Forest Park Health Campus.
Born February 18, 1930, in Richmond, Indiana, to Joseph Albert and Helen A. Wiggans Runyon, Joyce was a life-long resident of Richmond. She was a 1948 graduate of Richmond High School. Joyce retired after 25 years as court reporter for Wayne Superior Court 1, with Judge Brandon Griffis and Judge Thomas Snow. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Woman’s Club.
Survivors include her children, who were the love of her life, Dwayne Harter of Richmond, Indiana, Larry (Kim) Harter of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda (David) Caudle of Mesa, Arizona, Julie (Tom) Koester of Richmond, Indiana, and Lori Oakes of Hagerstown, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Donald (Jeanette) Runyon of Florida; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Miriam Statzer; and brothers, Robert and Joseph Runyon.
Memorial visitation for Joyce Elaine Harter will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church, 1425 East Main Street, Richmond. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Central United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Ream and Rev. David Caudle officiating. A private entombment will be in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum.
