Joyce Maxine Murray, 94, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Ambassador Health Care, Centerville, where she had resided for the past few years.
She was born in Henry County on September 2, 1923 to Vaughn Daniel and Iva Lou (Downing) Swoveland. She lived most of her life in the Hagerstown area and had resided in Losantville and Modoc.
Joyce was a 1941 graduate of Hagerstown High School and was a retired employee of Perfect Circle / Dana Corp. She enjoyed sewing, reading and walking.
Survivors include 3 children, Marilyn Scott of Green Valley, AZ, Thomas Murray (Jana) and Richard Murray (Rosetta), both of Hagerstown; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 2 siblings, Mary Lou Beeson of Losantville and John Swoveland of Hagerstown; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Murray in 1998, three siblings, Shirley Jean Murray, Keith Swoveland and Delores Johnson and a son-in-law, John Scott.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 12 noon on Wednesday, January 3, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 12 noon. Pastor Paul Gearhardt will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
