RICHMOND, Ind. – Karen E. Brooks, age 78, of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation in New Castle, Indiana.
Born August 30, 1939, in Richmond, Indiana, to Donald and Ruth Haas Davis, Karen lived most of her life in Richmond.
She was a 1957 graduate of Centerville High School. Karen retired from the Richmond State Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Karen was a big part of the Centerville Youth League and the addition of Brooks Field. She was a big fan of IU basketball, the Indiana Pacers, and the Indianapolis Colts. Karen enjoyed cross stitch, crochet, puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Julie Brooks and Lori Brooks, both of Richmond; sons, Mark Brooks of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Rodney Brooks of Muncie, Indiana; grandchildren, Preston Brooks of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Cory Owens of Centerville, Michaela (James) Meyers and Josiah Brooks, both of Richmond, Chelsea Henderson of North Carolina, Emerald Davis, Chris Davis, James Davis, Crystal (Phil) Neal, all of Indiana, Jessica Denton of Centerville, and Tina (Chris) Williams of Fountain City, Indiana; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (Larry) Caudill of Richmond; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Davis; mother, Ruth VanNess; father, Donald Davis; great-grandson, Bentli Ray Owens; and brother, Richard Davis.
Memorial gathering for Karen E. Brooks will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville.
