Kaylei Elaine Jones died unexpectedly at her home in Tampa, Florida, on December 19, 2019. She was born on April 2, 1986, to David Jones and Lesa Gist at Anderson, IN. She grew up in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School in 2004. She studied nursing at Ivy Tech in Richmond and worked as a CNA at Pinehurst Village before relocating to Tampa around 2011. A severe auto accident in 2009 left her with some physical limitations for many years. “Katie” was quick with a joke and had a keen insight into people. She had an empathy which was sympathetic and reassuring at the same time. She had some difficult times, and though occasionally dimmed, her inner light still lit her basic love of, and belief in other people.
Kaylei leaves behind to cherish her memory and grieve her loss, her husband Brian Turner; her parents, David Jones (Becky) and Lesa Coffel; her sisters, Sara Shumate (Adrian), Molly Jones; her brother, Zechariah Coffel; maternal grandparents, Nellie and Clinton Gist; her beloved niece Lily Shumate; and her dog and longtime friend, Mia.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James A. and Connie Jones. Kaylei had a special esteem for her late maternal great-grandmother, Ethel Brown, whose reminiscences and stories Kaylei never tired of hearing and who is waiting with a story for Kaylei as she makes her way home.
In remembering her, Kaylei’s family would like to ask everyone who reads this to pause a moment and consider those you love, and whose voices you’d like to hear say in response, “I love you too.” Then give them a call, or a hug, or something, one more time.
Friends may gather from 12 noon until the start of her memorial service at 1 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2019 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville.
