Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Ray, age 79, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He had bravely fought and beat cancer, but the treatments eventually beat him.
Born October 31, 1940, in Richmond, Indiana, to Hendren Sr. and Vergie Middleton Ray, Kenny lived in Richmond most of his life. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1959. Kenny retired from Tom Raper RV, where he worked in sales for over 20 years, and previously worked at Fred First Ford. He was a member of 228 Club Inc., for over 30 years. Kenny dearly loved all his grandchildren. He also loved his boat and jet ski trips on many lakes and rivers. Kenny enjoyed playing golf whenever and wherever the opportunity arose. He also spent a lot of time at the club playing cards with his buddies.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nancy Reece Ray; son, Brent (Carlene) Ray of Georgia; grandchildren, Kyla, Brandon, Logan, and Lindsey Ray and Cory Brooks; siblings, Hendren Ray Jr. of Canada and Barbara Ray Moyer of Richmond; sisters-in-law, Carol Ray, Marita (Donald) Theodore, Beth Reece, Twyla Reece, Teresa (Mike) Lawder, and Becky (Tony) Chandler; brothers-in-law, Jerry and Dennis Reece; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, including Matt Loftis and Larry (Linda) Larsh, all of Richmond, Keith (Bonnie) Oler of New Paris, Ohio, and Bill (Mary Jane) Stover of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Kenneth Ray; father; mother; brother, Jim Ray; sister-in-law, Joan Ray; and brother-in-law, Derwin Moyer.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that services for Kenneth Lee “Kenny” Ray will be private. Private graveside service will be at Crown Hill Cemetery with Chaplain Rick Alvey officiating. A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
