L. Wanda McGinnis, 87, of New Castle, passed away peacefully at home on the afternoon of Monday, June 29, 2020.

She was born on August 26, 1932, in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Roy H. and Lestie (Bolden) Jones.

Wanda graduated as salutatorian from Cadiz High School in 1950. She then joined Henry County Building and Loan – later Ameriana Bank – retiring following 30 years of employment. She married Charles K. McGinnis on Aug 21, 1965, and together they enjoyed almost 55 years of marriage. Wanda greatly enjoyed her membership with Altrusa Club matriculating through the local offices to become a Regional Governor covering all of Indiana, Illinois, and Northern Kentucky. She loved building relationships, traveling, and speaking at the various clubs.

Wanda was a long-time member of the First Christian Church where she served as a lady deacon. She enjoyed her home, cooking, her flowers, and in recent years acquired the skill of making jewelry.

Those left to cherish Wanda’s memory include her husband of almost 55 years, Charles K. McGinnis; two sons, Steve (Rebecca) Pinkerton of Anderson and Scott Pinkerton (Fiancé: Vikki Crawford) of New Castle; three grandchildren, Abbey (Jordan) Walton of Chicago, IL, Andrew Pinkerton of Muncie, and Ashley (Greg) Singh of Columbus, Oh; a great-granddaughter, Sienna Walton, and three nieces and a nephew.

Wanda was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary (Joe) Cloud, Nina (Kenneth) Maddy, and a brother, William “Bill” Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Charissa L. Ramey officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
