Larry Street, 77, of Fountain City, passed away at home on Saturday, January 20.
He was born in Richmond, Indiana on October 16, 1940 to Kenneth and Josephine Smith Street. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Larry retired from Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. He taught many kids the game of basketball and always strived to serve as a positive role model for area youth. He was an avid bicycle rider and basketball fan. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and was also active in the Richmond Senior Center. For the past few years, Larry served on the Fountain City Town Board and oversaw the water dept. He attended the Fountain City Wesleyan Church.
Larry will be missed by his wife, the former Joyce A. Thomas, who he married on March 21, 1959; daughters, Karen Sutton and her husband, Don; Teresa Schnick and her husband, Bryan; Julie Wisecup and her husband, David; and Susan Parks; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Larry’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Pastor David Anderson will officiate. Interment with military rites will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, at the funeral home.
