Leonard L. Shaffer Jr. 72 went to be with the Lord October 13, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 16, 1945 to Leonard and Velma (Wright) Shaffer Sr.
He was a member of the Laborers Union Local #1047 and then transferred to the Operators Union Local #103.
He was Co-Chairman of the Richmond Rose Festival Parade and the Centerville Bi-Centennial Parade. He enjoyed displaying Christmas lighters and decorations in his yard every year. He was very family oriented and loved spending time with his wife, his girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Margaret Shaffer, four daughters Leslie (Paul) Rasner, Kelly (Chad Niccum) Gregory, and Savannah and Makeighla Shaffer, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother Arthur Shaffer, two sisters Norma Donathon and Barbara Toney, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Larry “Butch” Shaffer, mother and father in law Lawrence and Mildred Pence, and sister in law Darlene Merrick.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday October 17, 2017 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Jenson officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
