Lois Ann Collins, 82, died August 10, 2019 at Reid Connersville.
Lois was born to Ben and Rosetta “Rose” Stephens Rader on June 15, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Connersville in 1941. She attended Connersville High School where she met Irvin “Buddy” Collins.
After 20 years of being apart, Buddy and Lois married in Jellico, Tennessee in 1972. For most of her life, Lois worked as a hair dresser until becoming employed at CRF First Choice, where she retired after 13 years of service. Lois enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren and relaxing at Brookville Lake. She also enjoyed doing yard work, visiting yard sales, as well as crocheting.
Lois is survived by her loving husband Buddy; grandson: Dustin Free Sr., great grandchildren: Dustin Jr., and Adora Free; many nieces and nephews including Don and Cathy Rader of Dalton Georgia, David and Donna Rader Edgar of Cambridge City, Tony and Sue Shephard of Connersville; special friends: George and Marge Heineman of Florida, Junior and Marcella Hardin.
In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her son: Kenzie C. Free; siblings: Ben Rader Jr., Donald O. Rader, and Sherry Barrett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 16, 2019 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel with Don Barrett Sr., and Don Barrett Jr ., officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. Thursday August 15, 2019. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery in Connersville. Memorial contributions may be made to The Special Olympics or donor’s choice.
