Lois May Ryan Keenan passed away at her home of 45 years on March 31, 2019.
She was born to Lawrence C. and Adelia M. Ryan in Richmond, Indiana, on October 27, 1929.
Raised an only child, she swore she would never raise a child by themselves and she kept to her promise. She had eight children, Jimmie Hughes; Gerald Hughes; Jody Chapman; Lesa Cadwallader Grieder; Dean Cadwallader and Donald Keenan Jr., two extended sons, Mark Keenan and Clark Keenan.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, two sons, Tommie Cadwallader and Jonathan Cadwallader and an extended daughter, Juanita Aubuchon, one grandson and one great-grandson.
She is survived by five sons and one daughter; twenty-seven grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Lois was a mother first and then became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She retired from the Barstow Community Hospital in 2001.
After retiring, she began a career working with the Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties and was a volunteer hospice nurse.
She loved cooking, baking and was always happy to feed you her amazing chicken and dumplings. Her holiday snack mix and fudge was always a welcome package. She enjoyed helping with the Relay for Life fundraisers and New Hope Village with baked goods, especially homemade bread.
She was always willing to give, and never asked for anything in return.
Lois will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held May 5, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Mead Mortuary in Barstow, California.
