Luther Ray Guffey, 65, of Cambridge City, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born on February 26, 1954 in New Castle, a son of the late James and Lydia (Cain) Guffey.

Ray was a wrestler at Lincoln High School in Cambridge City and graduated in 1972. He enjoyed wood working, genealogy research and listening to oldies rock and roll music. Ray also enjoyed travelling, especially to Tennessee and Florida and entering his car into car shows. Ray retired from Ford Visteon in Connersville, was an avid member of the NRA and attended Community Gospel Church and Church of Salvation, both in Connersville. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved the Lord.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy (Case) Guffey; children, Kimberly (husband: Mike) Bellamy of Georgetown, OH, Sean (wife: Wendy) Buckler of Avon, Brittni Guffey of New Castle, Paige Guffey of Connersville, Angie (husband: Bobby) Shaffer of Centerville and Tanda (husband: Jason) Neal of Connersville; a sister Deborah Jane (husband: Mike) Riley of Blooming Grove; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Gwen Morgan and Lesley (husband: Blaine) Dale and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Aaron Ray Guffey; two brothers, Richard Allen Guffey and Michael Roy Guffey; two sisters, Sharon Guffey and Peggy Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Phil Marcum and Angie Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition in New Castle.

Friends may call from 11 – 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
