Jeremy C. Shain Suspect

An ongoing investigation led by the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children task force (ICAC) culminated Tuesday (Feb. 12) with the arrest of a Richmond man on a charge of child exploitation.

The investigation began last October when the Indiana State Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to a news release from Sgt. John Bowling.

That investigation led officers from the Indiana State Police ICAC Task Force, assisted by officers from the Richmond Police Department, to an apartment in the 1800 block of South 13th Street on Tuesday morning to serve a search warrant.

As a result of that search warrant, Jeremy C. Shain, 43, of Richmond, was arrested on one count of child exploitation (Level 4 felony) and five counts of possession of child pornography (Level 6 felony).

The child exploitation charge stems from Shain allegedly possessing a pornographic image of a child younger than 12, Bowling said. The investigation remains ongoing, with further charges possible.

Anyone with information about illegal activity is encouraged to call the Pendleton District at (765) 778-2121. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.
