RICHMOND, Ind. – Margaret W. Sligar, age 94, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Arbor Trace.

Margaret was born on April 28, 1925, in Johnstone Renfrewshire, Scotland, to Robert and Mary Anderson Elliott. She graduated from Victoria Drive Secondary School and received her master’s degree in accounting from Glasgow University in 1948. Margaret retired from Champion International Corporation in 1997, where she had served as a corporate tax accountant for 30 years.

Margaret moved to Richmond in 2003. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Margaret earned an award from Eli Lilly for taking insulin for over 70 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling, and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Mark) Conover of Kingsford, Michigan; grandchildren, Ian Conover, Christina Larson, and Blain Conover; seven great-grandchildren; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Sligar, who died December 24, 2004; parents; and brothers, Robert, Walter, William, and James Elliott.

The family would like to thank the staff of Arbor Trace and Dr. Kalra for their loving care of Margaret.

Due to the current COVID-19, we regret to inform you that services for Margaret W. Sligar will be private. Private graveside service will be at Earlham Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
