MCCORDSVILLE – Marilyn June (Starr) Kleiman, age 86, of McCordsville, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019.

She was born in Centerville, Indiana, on July 13, 1933 to Don and Vergie Starr. She graduated from Centerville High School. She received her bachelors in elementary education from Miami University in Ohio in 1954 and went on to earn her master’s degree from Ball State University. Marilyn married James F. Kleiman on August 18, 1956 in Centerville, IN.

She was dedicated to teaching children and cherished touching all their lives throughout the years. She was a 3rd grade teacher in Richmond for one year and a 4th grade teacher in Rushville for 35 years before retiring.

Marilyn was a member of Main Street Christian Church for many years. She loved attending family activities and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Marilyn enjoyed researching genealogy and listening to music with Jim and her cat, Jojo.

Marilyn is survived by her son, David J. (Mary) Kleiman of Indianapolis; daughter, Janis L. Kleiman of McCordsville; grandchildren, Amanda G. Kleiman of Bloomington, IN and Amy E. Kleiman of Indianapolis; and brothers-in-law, Richard Kleiman of Greenfield and John Kleiman of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Vergie Starr; husband, James Kleiman; daughter-in-law, Lori Kleiman; and sister-in-law, Margaret “Peg” Kleiman.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
