Mary Edith (Flynn) Humble, 87 of New Castle joined her heavenly family in glory on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Henry Community Health. She was born January 16, 1933 in Worthington, Indiana, a daughter of the late James Dewey Flynn and Thelma Constance Taylor (Flynn) Davis, step daughter of Leo C. Davis.
A devoted pastor’s wife, Mary had the gift of hospitality and often opened her home to others. She worked as an Editorial Assistant at the Nazarene Headquarters in Kansas City, MO and served as distinguished district missionary president for 13 years. An accomplished musician, Mary loved playing piano and organ for church services, conventions and various other events. She was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene where she was involved in the “JOY” Club.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, David Lloyd Humble, whom she married December 26, 1953; a daughter, Rebecca June (David) Warren of Richmond; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Warren of Marion and Phillip Andrew (Sarah Corin) Warren of Bourbonnais, IL; a sister: Linda Lou (James) Malone of Odon, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Ramona June Haas.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle with Rev. David Warren officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, May 25th at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
