RICHMOND, Ind. – Mary J. Winters, age 76, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 14, 1943, in New Paris, Ohio, to Henry C. and Nellie Ramsey Veach Jr., Mary lived in Richmond most of her life. She served as a cafeteria worker for Richmond Community Schools and at several nursing homes in Union County, Indiana.

Mary was a member of Galilean Baptist Church. She lovingly crocheted thousands of toboggans and generously donated these to underprivileged families in the Union County area.

Survivors include her children, Diana L. Zielbauer of Liberty, Indiana, Kevin Winters of Richmond, Norma J. (Bud) Ragan of Abington, Indiana, and Sheila L. (Dan) Claggett of New Lebanon, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna and Carolyn; brother, Donny; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Roy L. Winters, who died July 18, 2015; daughter, Cindy L. Smith; and parents.

Visitation for Mary J. Winters will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2019, at Galilean Baptist Church, 204 South Morton Avenue, Centerville. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Galilean Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Cross officiating. Burial will be in Abington Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
