Richmond, IN – Mary Jane Carnes, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Friends Fellowship Community.

Born in 1928, in Centerville, Indiana, to James Alden and Fannie Davis Reynolds, Jane was a 1946 graduate of Carthage High School and attended Earlham College. She lived most of her life in Richmond. Jane was a former employee of Conniff’s Men’s Clothing Store. She was a birthright Quaker, charter president and member of the former Richmond Dental Society Auxiliary, member of Eastern Indiana Dental Society Auxiliary, and member of Indiana State Dental Society Auxiliary. Jane was a private pilot. She had served as a volunteer at the Wayne County Historical Museum and the United States Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

Survivors include her children, Anne (Michael) Brinker of Troy, Ohio, and David A. (Debra) Carnes of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Dena Carnes, Denise (Clay) Frye, A.J. Brinker, and Joe Brinker; and two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Isaac.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert K. Carnes, D.D.S., who died January 23, 2003, and her parents.

Visitation for Mary Jane Carnes will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
