Melvin “Barney” Caplinger, age 66, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on June 27, 2019. He was born August 31, 1952, to William and Leona Caplinger in Richmond, Indiana.
Barney was a lifelong resident of Wayne County. He loved to ride motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and spoiling his children, grandchildren and grand dogs. He was a very loving man and will be missed dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sons: Melvin Caplinger Jr. and Stephen Ewbank (Connie); daughters: Shermonda Mohler (Chris Grasse) and Crystal Moore (Andy); grandchildren: Gwenivere Caplinger, Justice Pierson, Skylar Moore, Marissa Moore, Trey Ewbank, Stephen Ewbank Jr. and James Ewbank; sisters: Loretta “Sue” Dixon and Berniece Wilson (Larry); sister in law: Joyce Shaffer; several great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends including longtime friends: John Chamness and Ernie Mann.
Besides his parents, Barney is preceded in death by his spouse: Shirley “Gizmo” Caplinger; brother: Bob Shaffer; and his faithful dog, June Bug.
