Michael Ray West, 70, passed away at his home in Cambridge City on Tuesday morning June 12, 2018. A son of the late Albert and Lillian West, Michael was born in Batesville, Indiana on December 30, 1947. Mike grew up in the Bentonville community and attended Fayette County Schools. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After 30 years of service, Mike retired from DANA Corporation where he worked as a welder at both the Hagerstown and Syracuse facilities. He also worked for Speed’s Plumbing. Mike has lived most of his life in the Western Wayne community and returned recently after living 10 years in New Castle. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing during his leisure time.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, the former Jeri Ann McCutcheon. They were married in Richmond on February 14, 2003. 2 children, Kevin (Kelly) West of Milton and Michelle “Missy” (Tony Whalen) West of Richmond; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his furry babies, Ginger and Lilly; 1 sister; nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by 1 sister; 1 sister in-law, Jayne (McCutcheon) Collins; 1 great niece, Audrey Davea Taylor and his faithful companion, Pepper Ann.
Graveside services with Military Honors conducted by contingents of the United States Army and American Legion Post 169 will be at 2 p.m. on Monday June 18, 2018 at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
