Norman Douglas “Doug” Owens, 83, of Lynn, IN, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, at his home. He was born March 6, 1939, in Winchester, IN the son of Cleo and Idris (Morris) Owens. He was a 1957 graduate of Lynn High School. Doug received his Bachelor of Science in 1966, graduate of Tri-State University, and his Master of Mechanical Engineering in 1969, from Ohio University.
Doug retired in 2005, after more than 22 years as a Mechanical Engineer with Modernfold of New Castle, IN. During his time with Modernfold, he received 14 patents to his name. He enjoyed spending his leisure time watching auto racing, both NASCAR and Indy Car. He attended 62 consecutive Indianapolis 500s. He was also a fan of Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts football. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 54 years, Victoria Owens; a son, Derek D. Owens (wife, Monica) of North Liberty, IN; a daughter, Nikki A. Knoll of Lynn, IN; a total of five grandchildren, Ethan, Wesley and Annabella, and Shianna (husband, Daniel) and Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A service to celebrate Doug’s life will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2022, at Wilson Shook Funeral Home, Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN. Burial will follow in New Liberty Cemetery.
