Ovadean (Granny) Guffey age 92 a lifelong resident of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 surrounded by her family.
She was born November 30, 1927 in Albany, Kentucky the daughter of the late General and Louisa York Clark. Ovadean and her husband Ray A. started building their lives together in New Castle, Indiana in the late 1940’s. She was a homemaker, babysitter for her grandkids and worked at Huntington Industry, Ameriana Bank and owner and operator of Zinzer’s Deli. The foundation of her life was her love and relationship with Jesus. She devoted her life to church ministry and supporting and praying daily for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her desire in life was to see her family have that same relationship with her Lord and Savior. She played guitar, mandolin, piano and was part of the Gospel Singing Group (The Rainbows). She enjoyed working in the kitchen at the Church Campground and making quilts for family and friends.
Survivors include her children Deloris (Don) Duncan, Mike Guffey, and Stacey (Tammy) Guffey all of New Castle. Grandchildren Kim Podhorn, Scott (Melisha) Troxell, Tyler Guffey, Katie (Tyler) Hicks, Kaye (Bill) Kendall. Great grandchildren Jacob (Jessica) Troxell, Alexis (Shiloh) Carlock, Marissa Troxell, Benjamin and Christopher Podhorn, Jackson Ray Mieth, Norah Hicks, Jayce Hicks, Braityn Hicks, Keegan Hicks. Austin (Abby) Kendall and Mariah Kendall.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray A. Guffey, granddaughter Kristy Troxell, siblings Andrew Clark, Cloyd Clark, Ethel Stearns, Peble Rigney and Mae Neal.
Services will be Saturday November 21, 2020 at 1pm at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Pastor Donald Silvers will be officiating. Friends may call Saturday 11am-1pm at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church.
