Patricia “Patty” A. Coleman, 70, of New Castle passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 30, 1949 in New Castle, a daughter of the late William A. and Eunice (Black) Clark.
Patty was a 1967 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School. She retired from the New Castle School Corporation in 2010 following 42 years of service. Patty started out working at the school administration office, then moved to Eastwood Elementary and finally to the Middle School. She had served in various roles at the school but most of her years were spent as secretary to the principal and office manager. Patty was a 65 year member of St. Anne Catholic Church where she served as Cantor, on the funeral dinner committee, St. Anne Society and enjoyed quilting with the church ladies. Patty was a great seamstress and loved to quilt and was a member of the Homemakers Association- Calico Kids Group Quilting Committee. She was also a member of the County Extension Homemakers and served as secretary, American Business Women’s Association, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 933, where she served as secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary and helped in the accounts payable department.
Patty is survived by her daughter, Natalie (Chris) Gwinn of New Castle; grandchildren, Christina and Nathan Gwinn both of New Castle; sister, Margaret Pauline (Clark) Cudney of Fishers; nieces, Jennifer Bolton and Stephanie (Chad) Voris both of Indianapolis; great nieces, Tatum, Delaney, Mia, Braelyn and Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Larry M. Coleman in 2005.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00pm Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father John Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
