CAMBRIDGE CITY- Paul W. Wesseler, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning February 18, 2020 at the home of his son in Elmhurst, Illinois.

A son of the late William and Addie (Baxter) Wesseler, Paul was born in Batesville, Indiana on December 11, 1933. Paul has lived most of his life in Cambridge City and was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1952. He played basketball for the Wampus Cats and received a basketball scholarship to High Point, North Carolina. Paul married the love of his life, the former, Betty J. Stewart, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church on June 2, 1956.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1958 while stationed in Annapolis, Maryland. Paul was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked hard every day to provide for his family, always working 2 jobs. He did some farming, had a poultry business with laying hens and sold eggs to area restaurants and schools. A trash hauling business followed, all while working his regular job as department head at M.E.G. in Cambridge City from where he retired in 2005 after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, a friend to all animals and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include 4 children, Jamie (Susan) Wesseler of Ft. Wayne, Terri (Dennis) Orndorff of Greenfield, Lisa (Mark) McClain of Cambridge City and Marc (Karen) Wesseler of Elmhurst, IL; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Jo Franklin and Doris (Verus) Miller; nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on March 24, 2018 and a grandson, Patrick Ryan Wesseler on January 25, 2014.

Private graveside services will be held on Saturday February 22, 2020 at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Memorial Contributions can be made to H.E.L.P. the Animals Shelter- P.O. Box 117/ Richmond, IN 47374.
