Richmond Police Department responded to two incidents involving firearms early Tuesday morning (Sept. 3)
At approximately 5:35 a.m., third shift patrol officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2100 block of North D Street in Richmond. The police department received reports of people yelling before hearing the shots and then people running after the shots were heard, said Capt. Curt Leverton of RPD’s Investigative Services Division in a news release.
Officers located evidence of shots being fired in the area, however no persons were located to be involved in the incident. No damage or injuries have been reported.
Meanwhile, about 10 minutes later, at approximately 5:48 a.m., a man arrived at Reid Health with a gunshot wound.
The injuries were not life-threatening. This incident was reported to have occurred in the 600 block of North West L Street and is being investigated as an accidental self-inflicted wound, Leverton said.
The two incidents do not appear to be related and both incidents remain under investigation by Investigative Services of the Richmond Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call Richmond Police Department at (765) 983-7247.
