Ray Malcolm Laymon, 96, passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2018 at I.U. Ball Hospital in Muncie. Malcolm was born in Dublin, Indiana to the late Chester Garfield and Mary “Mayme” (Woodward) Laymon on February 6, 1922.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City with the class of 1940. Following honorable service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Malcolm completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Indiana University in 1948. He worked in the sales department for autos and trucks at the International Harvester Dealerships in Anderson and Muncie. Malcolm had lived in Albany from 1948-1965 where he was active in the Lion’s Club. He has been a resident of Anderson since 1965 where he volunteered at the Literacy Coalition for Adult Reading and the Historical Society. Malcolm was proud of his service to country and in his leisure, enjoyed golfing with his wife.
Malcolm was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years at the time of her death on September 12, 2014, Lois (Linginfelter) Laymon. They were married in Dublin on July 21, 1943; 1 sister, Crystal Ballard.
Survivors include 2 sons, Kurt (Linda) Laymon of Albany and Phil Laymon of Salem, OR; 1 daughter, Mary (Earl) Wittrock of Alexandria, KY; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
