Obituaries - Rea Ann Bowen

Rea Ann Bowen, age 78, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Reid Health.

Born December 22, 1938, in Union City, Ohio, to Donald Clarkson and Hazel Elizabeth Worley Dickey, Rea Ann had lived in this community most of her life. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1956 and attended Purdue University and I.U. East. Rea Ann worked as a teaching assistant at Garrison Elementary for 15 years, served as First Deputy for the Wayne Township Trustee, and worked as a caseworker for the Department of Public Welfare for 15 years. She was a leader of the Wayne County 4-H Horse & Pony Club for many years, formerly serving as secretary and treasurer and the 4-H Caballeros Horse & Pony Club. Rea Ann was also a member of the American Maine-Anjou Association, Boston Home Economics Club, and First English Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading and watching her children show their livestock at the Wayne County Fair.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Dan) Heyob of Hagerstown, Indiana; sons, David (Kristi) Bowen of Mason, Ohio, and Doug (Sharon) Bowen of Lynn, Indiana; grandchildren, Blaine Bowen, Morgan Bowen, Craig Heyob, Dustin Tincher, and Brooke Bowen; niece, Sherri Norman of Worthington, Ohio; nephew, Richard Williams of Richmond; cousins; and many friends, including special friends, Carol King of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Virginia Sickman of Richmond.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert L. Bowen Jr., who died on June 8, 2017; parents; and sister, Sharon Williams.

Visitation for Rea Ann Bowen will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at First English Lutheran Church, 2727 East Main Street, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at First English Lutheran Church with Pastor John Walker and Pastor Chip Belanga officiating. Burial will be in Lutherania Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
