Obituaries - Rhea Irene Benner Toschlog

RICHMOND, Ind. – Rhea Irene Benner Toschlog, age 93, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Reid Health.

She was born September 9, 1923, to Everett and Naomi Filby Benner at home in Boston, Indiana, where she grew up. Rhea graduated from Boston High School in 1941. She worked at the Richmond Gas Office until she married Robert R. Toschlog on April 12, 1947. Rhea later worked at the Greens Fork Elevator which was the family business, as well as farming. She was active in the 4-H Club, Rural Youth, Holy Family Women’s Club, An’ North County Extension Homemaker’s Club, and Centerville Women’s Club. Rhea was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and visiting the sick. Rhea loved her family and was a caring and devoted mother.

Survivors include her children, Robert A. (Janice) Toschlog of Centerville, Jane A. Thompson of Centerville, Mark L. Toschlog of Richmond, and Jeff L. (Linda Carpenter) Toschlog of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Lois Stevens; and special caregiver, Kelly Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Rene; brother and sister-in-law, Myron and Ruth Benner; sister and brother-in-law, Arva and Ray Trisler; three day old brother, Alton Kenneth Benner; parents; in-laws, Harry and Alma Toschlog; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Ruth Adamson and Bob and Mary Lou Abel; brother-in-law, Larry Stevens; and grandson, Daniel Toschlog.

Visitation for Rhea Irene Benner Toschlog will be from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Deacon Frank Roberts officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
