Richard A. “Slim” Kirk, Jr., age 65, a New Castle resident, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021. He was born October 20, 1955 in Beechgrove, Indiana.
He was a 1974 graduate of John Marshall High School in Indianapolis and then entered the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an explosive specialist and served four years serving our country. He had resided in New Castle for many years and was retired from Ferodo Corporation in New Castle after 24 years of service. Mr. Kirk loved family activities, nature, outdoors, hunting, fishing, and time spent in Florida.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his mother, Jo Anne Huber Row of Greenwood, Indiana; a daughter, Dawn Wadman, New Castle; three sons, Rick Kirk, New Castle, Michael Kirk, Alexandria, Indiana and Dana Polanco (wife, Casey) of New Castle; grandchildren, Christian Polanco (wife, Kyra) of New Castle, Cody Carter, New Castle, Gauge Kirk of Modoc, Kaitlyn Polanco, New Castle, Seth Carter, Muncie, Sydnie Kirk of Mt. Summit, Brooklyn Polanco of New Castle; one great-grandson, Kylie Polanco of New Castle; three brothers, Kenneth Kirk (wife, Melanie) of Long Island, New York, Keith Kirk of Tavares, Florida, Steve Preston Kirk (wife, Kathy) of Greenfield, Indiana; one sister, Elaine Williams of Somerset, Kentucky; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.
He was preceded in death by twin brothers, Stephen and Brian Kirk and also brother, Dennis Kirk.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 in the military section of South Mound Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On-line condolences may be made at www.macerhall.com.
