Richmond Police Respond to Fatal Shooting

A Richmond man has died after receiving multiple gunshot wounds at an apartment complex.
Richmond Police Department responded to a report of a shooting shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday at the Genesis Apartments, formerly known as Country Club Apartments, in the 1000 block of South 23rd Street.
Upon their arrival, they discovered the initial crime scene in the parking lot. The victim has been identified as Jason Lewis, 27, of Richmond.
Investigators arrived on scene and began processing the crime scene and interviewed potential witnesses, said Sergeant James Doll of RPD’s Investigative Service Division in a news release.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately six feet in height, thin build, wearing black shorts and a red shirt.
After the preliminary investigation, the Wayne County Corner transported Lewis to the Montgomery County, Ohio, Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
The investigation continues, and police ask that anyone who has any information regarding this case should call (765) 983-7247.
