Rita Lavonne Moore, age 87, Richmond, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 10, 1934 to John and Norma Stevens. Rita was known for her love of homemaking. Her home was always spotless, and she kept her doors open for family and friends to come and enjoy a meal. She had Jesus hanging in every room of her home to show her devotion to her Lord and Savior. She loved to crochet, and in her time made thousands of dish rags, “scrubbies” and towels for Senior Opportunities Services, making as many as a dozen a day. Rita was an eager volunteer, always willing to help those in need. She devoted herself to her work of helping the elderly until the age of 85. She was a diehard fan of Dr. Pepper, word searches, and soap operas. Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She made every member of her family feel special, loved, and safe. She will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children David Luce, Rita Brandyberry, Lori Christian, Dale Luce and Robin Floyd; grandchildren Brandy Williams, Jenna Brown, LeAnn (Jake) Burns, Patrick Floyd Jr., Tiani Christian, Jason and Travis Moore, Jennifer Phillips, John Luce, Dale Luce Jr., Jerry Luce, and Isaac Luce; great-grandchildren Trenton Dreer, Victoria Williams, Candace Williams and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first spouse Walter Frances Luce and second spouse Wayne Moore; children Walter Luce III and John Luce; sisters Mary Jefferies and Marjorie Bailey; brother John Stevens and great-grandson Justin Dreer.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 5, 2022, at Goshen Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana. Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s name to Senior Opportunities Services 401 S 4th St, Richmond, IN 47374.
