Obituaries - Robert Bob Pflum

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – Robert “Bob” Pflum, 79, of Connersville and the Everton area passed away Wednesday evening, September 6, 2017, at Reid Health, of Richmond, Indiana due to complications from a massive stroke. One of eleven children of Paul Anthony and Anna E. McQuinley Pflum, Bob was born on January 15, 1938, at home in Brownsville, Indiana. As a young boy, he moved to Fayette County with his family and had lived there ever since. He graduated from Alquina High School with the class of 1956. A great ballplayer, Bob played basketball and softball while in high school.

On April 15, 1961, Bob married the former Lona Adams. Mrs. Pflum survives.

Bob retired from D & M in Connersville but farmed his entire life in the Alquina and Everton areas. In addition to growing crops, he raised pigs for many years and was proud to be known as a “good hog man.” He enjoyed when the kids were in 4-H showing pigs. He had a good eye for the show pigs, too. Bob was a quiet, stick-close-to-home man that took pride in his house and farm. He loved his wife, kids, beautiful grandchildren, brothers and sisters and it was mutual. In his later years, Bob loved riding the Gator around the farm, ever watchful for weeds and moles. He would also take his dog, Waylon, for rides around the farm. Bob was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #861.

Survivors include his wife of over 56 years, Lona Pflum; children, Lisa (Darryl) Snyder and Scott (Rhonda) Pflum; grandchildren, Paige Snyder, Megan Snyder and Adam Pflum; four brothers, Richard (Joanne) Pflum of Connersville, Lowell Pflum (Nancy Roberts) of Cambridge City, Indiana, David (Judy) Pflum of Connersville, Phillip (Diana) Pflum of Milton, Indiana; three sisters, Diane (James) Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio, Marilyn (Malcolm) Miles and Carolyn (Dennis) Nutty all of Liberty, Indiana; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Pflum of Everton.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Pflum, Jr.; two sisters, Delories Bates and Frances Caudle; two brothers-in-law, Bob Bates and Walter Caudle; and a sister-in-law, Kay Pflum.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Reverend Dustin Boehm will officiate. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
