Ronald C. Floyd, 80, of Fayette County, Indiana, left this earth for a new journey on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Reid Hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born February 25, 1939 to Coleman and Irene Floyd and was a grandson of Fred and Mayme McCrory of Rush County.
On October 7, 1960, he married Betty Merchant of Hancock County.
Ron graduated from Greenfield High School in 1957 and continued to work for Standard Grocery Stores for 27 years until their closing. He then worked for the Brownberry Bread Co. as an independent distributer in Connersville and surrounding areas; retiring in 2003. During his time as a Bread Man, he supported The Community Sharing of Connersville with bakery and bread products. After retirement he worked during the summer at Whitewater State Park as a gate attendant until July 2019.
He was a member of Alquina United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle, or by plane, car, camper, and especially cruise ships with family and friends. He was a long-time member of the Krazy Quilt Campers Club, where he made lifelong friendships.
He and his wife spent 15 wonderful winters in Zephyrhills, FL. He was a loving father and grandfather; always eager to help.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Shelli (Brian) Marcum, of Eaton, OH, Ronda York, of Connersville, and Cindy (Vic) Davis, of Shelbyville; a sister, Sherry (Norman) Nicholas, of Rush Co.; five grandchildren, Kyle Lutz, of Greensburg, Danielle Hilton, of Cambridge City, Kenzie Davis, of Indianapolis, Mariah Davis, of Shelbyville, and Chandler Brewer, of Connersville; ten great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Dillen, Ronan, Kaden, Leland, Eli, Leo, Oli, Zariah, and Zellie; brother and sister in laws, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a granddaughter, Whitney Lutz, and a great-granddaughter, Marley Davis.
Visitation for Ron will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Rob Judd officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
