Royla Zoe Cochran, 82, passed away on December 24, 2019, Christmas Eve, at Westminster Village, Muncie, Indiana, following a long illness.
Born to Roy and Dorothy Mullican August 4, 1937, in Breese, Illinois, she had two sisters to greet her: Rita Lee Doty and Carrie Jo Miller.
Royla married Martin Cochran the day after Valentine’s Day in 1959. Both were students in Tulsa University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Seven months later, Martin met with a tragic death caused by a bicycle/car accident. Royla never remarried. However, she and Martin had planned to travel. And travel she did. San Francisco. Boulder. Philadelphia. Texas. North Carolina. Harvard. Fort Collins. Canyonlands. Ireland.
And along the way, she became an artist, a teacher, a librarian, a world traveler. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. But best of all she became a much-beloved aunt to nine nieces and nephews: Lannie, Mark, Rebecca, and Kris Doty; and Ken, Doug, Betsy, Shawn, and Blaine Miller.
A private burial was held on Saturday on December 28 for family members with the memorial service to be held at a later date.
Arrangements announced by Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel, Cambridge City.
