Ruth Wesley, age 80, of Springport, Indiana, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at Signature Health Care Muncie after an extended illness with Parkinson’s disease. She was born April 1, 1941 in Albany, Kentucky, a daughter of Charlie and Ethel Byers.
She was an ordained Nazarene minister and served as pastor of United New Hope Nazarene Church in Muncie from 1993 until 2005, where she continued as a faithful member. She also served in several other ministries in the community including Cowan Nazarene Church, Muncie Wayside Women’s Ministry and several jail ministries. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker and mother, she worked diligently to support the family trucking and farming businesses.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert “Bob” Wesley of Springport, Indiana; two sons, Larry (wife, Lona) Wesley of Albany, Indiana, and Dewayne (wife, Beverly) Wesley of Columbia, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Amber, and Kristen Wesley; one great-granddaughter, Jocelyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, William C. Byers, Mildred Daniel, and Loma Criswell.
The immediate family plans to have a private funeral service with burial to follow in South Mound Cemetery. The family request memorials be donated to your favorite church ministry or Parkinson’s organization in lieu of flowers.
