RUSHVILLE, Ind. – Ruthanna Riebsomer, 93, a long time Rushville resident passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Westfield, IN. Ruthanna was born in Union County, IN on November 14, 1923 to the late Edgar C. and Cora (Conner) Robinson. She was a 1942 graduate of Short High School in Liberty. Ruthanna married Robert D. Riebsomer on October 21, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1994. Ruthanna’s career included administrative work at Perfect Circle and at various Rushville doctors’ offices. Ruthanna enjoyed gardening, quilting, researching family genealogy and cooking. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rushville where she taught Sunday school for 40 years and was the church secretary and education director. Ruthanna was committed to serving the local community through Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. She was an active foster grandparent in the schools well into her eighties.
Ruthanna is survived by a son, Von S. Riebsomer and wife Susan of Greensburg, 3 daughters, Robin Riebsomer of Indianapolis, Laura and husband John Crawford of Sheridan, IN, and Betsy and husband Paul Draper of Dunedin, FL, 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruthanna was preceded in death by a son Shawn and 2 brothers.
A Memorial Celebration will be held Sunday, September 24, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rushville at 4 PM. Friends are welcome to visit at the church from 2 PM until time of service. Burial will be held in College Corner Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Rev. Roy Ice will preside.
