Connersville, IN – Samuel “Lewie” Mains, 88, of Connersville, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at his home, which he proudly built himself. He was born on September 22, 1928, in Connersville, Indiana, and is the son of Walter Pete Mains and Pauline May Mains, both of whom preceded him in death.
On September 15, 1951, he married Molly Ruth Richardson. Samuel served for 4 years with the United States Navy. He was a member of Harrisburg Union Church. He had worked at Stant Tool & Die, and retired from PK USA. He enjoyed woodworking, playing euchre, bowling, golf, and softball.
Along with his wife of 66 years, he is survived by three children, Tim (Pam) Mains, of St. Leon, Lynette (Gregg) Getchius, of Abington, and Todd Mains, of Greenwood; a son-in-law, Doug Roschi, of Cambridge City; one brother, Paul (Janet) Mains, of Connersville; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mains, of Chesterfield; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Cline, Jonathan Roschi, Ryan Mains, Kyle Mains, Randall Mains, Justin Mains, Devin Mains, and Taylor Mains; as well as four great-grandchildren, Easton Mains, Gavin Mains, Joshua Mains, and Aubrey Mains.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Roschi; a brother, Bradley Mains; two sisters, Ruth Gabbard and Gloria Jordan; a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Mains, and a granddaughter, Katie Mains.
The funeral service for Mr. Mains will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at 1:00pm, at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. Burial with graveside military honors conducted by the Fayette County Honor Guard will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the funeral home.
