I-70 East reopens after 6 hours; semis collide in Henry County

Here are a couple of updates on crashes taking place Tuesday, Dec. 1, from Indiana State Police:

6 p.m. update:
After about six hours, an investigation and subsequent cleanup of a crash on Interstate 70 near the Indiana/Ohio state line has concluded. Both eastbound lanes are now back open. Motorists intending to travel through the area can resume normal travel. The crash took place at the Ohio 6 mile-marker before noon and required all eastbound lanes to be shut down.

Local woman dies at rural crash scene

A Richmond woman has died after her vehicle struck a culvert, went airborne and collided with a utility pole in a rural area on the city’s northwest side. Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and other local first responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 3500 block of Nolands Fork Road shortly before noon Friday. Initial information indicated a silver Dodge Charger was partially in a field with an unconscious female in the driver’s seat. First responders discovered Tiffany Renteria, 41, of Richmond. Life-saving measures were performed by Centerville Fire and Red Line EMS, but ultimately, Renteria was pronounced dead at the scene.

Motorcyclist dies after U.S. 27 crash

An early morning crash on U.S. 27 South in Wayne County has resulted in an area motorcyclist’s death. At about 4:39 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a serious personal injury crash at the intersection of U.S. 27 South and Esteb Road, which is located just north of Pottershop Road. David Ramsey, 46, of Richmond, was driving a 2001 Buick Park Avenue southbound on Esteb Road and had come to a stop at U.S. 27. Ramsey turned south onto U.S. 27 and was then struck by a motorcycle, according to a news release from Sheriff Randy Retter.

Fountain City man dies at U.S. 27 crash scene

A Fountain City man has died after a crash north of his community on Wednesday morning (June 17). At 8 a.m., Wayne County Sheriff’s Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at U.S. 27 North and Bockhofer Road north of Fountain City. The crash involved a Ford F-150 driven by Robbie Lanter, 54, of Fountain City, and a Peterbilt semi pulling tandem box trailers driven by Justin Rankin, 38, of Muncie. According to a press release from Wayne County Sheriff Randy Retter, an investigation at the scene indicated that Lanter was westbound on Bockhofer Road and for an unknown reason failed to yield the right-of-way of Rankin, who was northbound on U.S. 27. Lanter’s vehicle collided with the semi-trailers being pulled by Rankin, Retter said.
