Indiana State Police investigating fatal Hagerstown shooting

One Hagerstown man has died after a shooting believed to stem from a dispute between neighbors, police said. KC Allen Simpson, 32, died as the result of multiple gunshot wounds received Wednesday afternoon. Wayne County emergency personnel were called to a possible shooting at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 4700 block of Brick Church Road west of Hagerstown, according to a news release from Indiana State Police Trooper C. Ryan Davis. Officers from the Hagerstown Police Department were the first to arrive on scene, where they found Simpson lying in the front yard. Officers immediately rendered aid to Simpson, who was eventually transported by medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital, where he died.

Bullet goes through air conditioner, strikes teen in hand

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the hand inside a Richmond home after a bullet passed through an air conditioner. At about 3:17 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, Richmond Police Department responded to 208 Pearl St. on the city’s northwest side in response to a person who had been shot. During the initial investigation, it was determined that a bullet had passed through an air conditioning unit and struck a 16-year-old male inside 208 Pearl St.

Women found who’ve been accused of withholding kids from dads

A tip led to three Hagerstown women being arrested in Greenfield, Indiana, after police recently accused them of interfering with child custody. Heather Frost, her sister Abby Frost, and their mother, Nancy Frost, have been taken into custody following a tip regarding their whereabouts. They were accompanied by the missing children, Emery Oliver and Lane Frost, who were located safely. Discovery of the family was prompted by a citizen who reported a possible location for the Frosts to Wayne County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Sept. 13.

RPD investigating shooting, fatal motorcycle crash

Richmond police have been busy investigating a shooting on Monday and a fatal motorcycle accident on Sunday as well as a woman’s death Tuesday morning. Read our story about the death investigation here.

A Richmond man was transferred to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, after being shot Monday evening (Sept. 14). Shortly after 8:30 p.m., Richmond Police Department responded to the 100 block of South 12th Street to a reported shooting. Lesaviour Norris, 30, was located with a gunshot wound to the foot/ankle area.

Woman reports home invasion in Cambridge City

Six area police departments responded to a report of a home invasion in Cambridge City. At about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, Cambridge City Police Department received a call reporting a home invasion in the 300 block of West Main Street. Upon officers’ arrival, CCPD Chief Richard Roberts spoke to the homeowner, who was a few houses away. The homeowner told Roberts that she heard a noise in the hallway, so she went to investigate.

21-year-old shot in Richmond commercial area; teen arrested

A Richmond teen has been arrested and faces a preliminary charge of attempted murder after a shooting on the city’s far-east side. Shortly before 9:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, second-shift patrol officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Commerce Road near the state line after a report of a shooting. The area is home to some restaurants, recreation spots and visitor lodging near Interstate 70. Officers located Christopher Lambert, 21, of Richmond, with a gunshot wound to the arm and leg.
