Vicky Marie Basler, 67, of Lynn, died Sunday, September 2, 2018, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Hospice, following a 3 year battle with Sezary Syndrome (cancer).
Vicky was born in Richmond on August 13, 1951 to Joe and Beulah Mae (Oler) McMillan. She was a 1969 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She was active in the 4-H program throughout high school.
Following high school, she worked at Don’s Donuts in Hagerstown, and was a cake decorator at Joy Ann Bakery in Richmond. After marrying her husband, Hank, they moved to Jacksonville, NC, where he was in the USMC at Camp Lejeune. After returning to Lynn in 1974, she was a housewife and mother. She also worked at Sully’s Pizza and sewed fiberglass material at Kabert Industries, both in Lynn. She enjoyed baking, sewing and spending as much time as possible with her two granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents and her father.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Hank Basler; a son, Joe Basler (Diane); a daughter, Jenny Staton (Shawn); two very special granddaughters, Ally and Emma; her mother, Beulah Mae McMillan; a brother, Danny McMillan (Connie) and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 AM to 11 AM on Friday, September 7, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Services will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in Economy Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all the medical and non-medical personnel from Henry Community Hospital, The Waters of New Castle and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, as well as all of the dermatologists from Columbus, Anderson and Indianapolis, for all of the care they provided to Vicky.
