William Alfred “Bill” Hughes, 82, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon, August 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Connersville.
One of three children of Madison S. and Oma Lucas Hughes, Bill was born in Connersville on March 19, 1940 and attended Connersville High School.
Bill served his community as a member of the Connersville Fire Department for 32 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Connersville Baptist Temple and in his leisure time enjoyed woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Hughes; a son, William K. (Catherine) Hughes of Glenwood; five grandchildren, Natalie (Jon) Moore, Brittany (Rocky) Fry, Craig Hughes, Brandon Hughes, and Jerald Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Holland Moore, Harrison Fry, and Jaeden Taylor; three bonus great-grandchildren, Braden Moore, Landon, and Madison; and a brother, Wayne (Wilma) Hughes of Connersville.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, infant Maryleen Hughes and Serena Taylor; granddaughter, infant Johnnie Taylor; and a brother, Hershel Hughes.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Joe Ferreira will officiate. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
