William J. Veach, age 87, of Richmond, IN, died Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Reid Health Hospital, Richmond, IN. He was born on December 29, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Lewis & Bernice (Began) Veach. He met Shirley Bensman on the dance floor of the Crystal Ballroom in Versailles, Ohio and married her on February 19, 1966 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Ohio. She survives in Richmond. He is also survived by daughter Jennie Veach and husband Tony Truitt and a son John Veach and granddaughter Baleigh Veach. He was preceded in death by sister Norma (Veach) Villars. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Richmond, IN. He graduated from Culver Military Academy and the University of Notre Dame in 1956 with a business degree. He served in the Army Reserves. He owned and managed Veach’s Store in Richmond for over 50 years. He enjoyed rooting for Notre Dame and sailing his Lightening wooden sailboat. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster.
