William Jason Mathews, age 45, of Centerville, Indiana, died Friday, September 3, 2021, at Reid Health.

Born November 9, 1975, in Richmond, Indiana, to William Joseph “Bill” and Stella Mae Blevins Mathews, Jason was a life-long resident of Wayne County, Indiana. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1995. Jason worked at a group home. He attended First Baptist Church of Centerville. Jason was a member of the Jokers Car Club. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Jason enjoyed cooking and loved to go fishing with his son.

Survivors include his fiancée, Nancy Stapleton of Centerville; children, Whitney Mathews, Patorian Mathews, Hanna Stapleton, and Jillian Stapleton, all of Centerville; mother, Stella Mathews of Richmond; sister, Angela Lynch of Centerville; nephew, Landon Lynch; aunts; uncles; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandmother, Ada Louise Hemsling; and brother-in-law, Staff Sergeant Gregory Lynch.

Visitation for William Jason Mathews will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. James L. Girdley officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
