William T. Day, 88, of Liberty, passed away on Novemeber 16, 2019 at Reid health in Richmond. William was born on March 5, 1931 in London, KY, and is one of six children to the late Thomas and Pearl McQueen Day. On August 7, 1954, William married the love of his life and mother of his children, Ethel (Powell) Day. They were blessed with more than 65 years of marriage before his passing.
William was a member of the Liberty Pentecostal church. William had been a diesel mechanic for more than 45 years. He was known by many to be able to fix anything. In his younger years, he could often be found fishing in his off time. He always cherished his time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to tell stories and rarely met a stranger.
Along with his wife of 65 years, William is survived by a daughter, Carla (Todd) Bourne of Liberty, IN; three sons, Rick (Cindy) Day of Centerville, Roy (Michelle) Day and Alvin (Suzie) Day, both of Liberty; two brothers, Joe (Pansy) Day and Jimmy Day; 14 grandchildren, Tonya, Stacy, Emily, Lisa, Krista, Jenna, Ryan, Kalin, Colton, Cameron, Craig, Chandra, Chelsie, Jessica; 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Day and Wayne Sananstine; and one sister, Rhodie Foutch.
Visitation for William will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, Liberty. The funeral service will follow the next morning, Thursday, November 21, 2019, 11:00am, at the funeral home, with Pastor Robert Johnson and Reverend Robert E. Lee officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow in Sims Cemetery.
