Wilma Doretha Query, 87, passed away Wednesday evening October 31, 2018 at the Heritage House in New Castle, Indiana. A daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel Gertrude (Paul) Rummel, Wilma was born on the “Rummel Homeplace”, north of Dublin in Wayne County, Indiana on August 14, 1931. She lived most of her life in Henry County and graduated from Lewisville High School with the class of 1949. Wilma and her late husband, “Ike” Query farmed and raised their family north of Straughn. She was a homemaker and worked at Firestone, Sears Department Store and as a night clerk at Raintree Inn in New Castle. She also worked at Brookes Cannery in Mt. Summit and was a Stanley Home Products and Tupperware representative. In her leisure, Wilma enjoyed word search puzzles, knitting and crocheting. She was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include 5 children, Debra (Wesley) Schelske of Indianapolis, Richard (Sondra) Query of Dunreith, Kevin Query of Straughn, Lisa (Tony) Jones of Mustang, OK and Maria Query-Hill of Straughn; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Herman Rummel of Hagerstown, Jean Cullison of Camby, OR and Jeannette Winchester of New Castle; nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Query on May 13, 2016. They were married at the home of Paul and Iris Chew on August 10, 1949; an infant son, Arnold Franklin Query; 6 siblings, Carl, Ralph and Charles Rummel, Mabel Nelson, Thelma Thornburg and Helen Albertson-Tutterow.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday November 6, 2018 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Rev. Arthur Whitaker will officiate. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Lewisville Chapel from 4-8 p.m. on Monday November 5th.
